Scantech expansion tank for 960 900

Got a Scantech coolant expansion tank to replace the original cracked and leaking one.
Well, the underside "hole" and fastener is too small for the coolant level sensor "nubbin". Has the sensor size been reduced or has Scantech struck again? I will need a new sensor anyway as the insulation fell off of the old one.
I was thinking of cutting off the new tank fastener and gluing the sensor in place.
