How does this AT shift rod attach to the trans? 200

I've had my shift lever come apart and am trying to figure out how it should reattach. It's the rod where it joins the transmission lever. On the shift lever side there's a large clip. But it seems on the trans side there's not as much room to fit that kind of clip. Do I just use an e-type retaining clip, like I have pictured? It's to attached the rod to the hinge, as well as the hinge to the lever.
