Power steering 140-160

Go for it. I did the conversion on my '74 144. The gearbox and pump was from a 164. Basically bolt on operation with minor fabrication to built the mounting brackets to bolts on the pump. I also fabricated an adapter plate since the mounting points on the steering gear box are does not align with the bolt holes on the chasis rails. Installed some new hoses, fired it up, and Voila! power steering. If your gearbox came out of a 144 (some 144s came with power steering originally), then it should be bolt on.

It has been running fine for over 3 years now without any problems, and I am running on 195/65/15 on Virgos. Steering feels just right, although a tad too light if you are running the original 165/80/15 tires.

Best restomod I have ever done to my 144, besides the Overdrive and the 1975 244 electronic ignition.
