Engine tapping very loud 900

I thought my 91 940T needed new manifold gaskets (which it probably does) but I think it may be PCV related. I read the FAQ's section but I am a little lost with the limited pictures. Here are the symptoms:

VERY loud tapping coming from valve area (mainly near the timing belt & front manifold area).

Oil comes out of the filler cap, when closed, onto the valve cover. Not a lot but it's obvious.

I don't have a lot of history on the car but it has 231k miles and regular oil changes. As for the PCV set up being clogged, I don't know where to start. I started to adjust the valves but I would like to start with the PCV stuff. Where do I start and what do I look for? Any pictures would be great! I know this is probably simple for most, so forgive the dumb question but I need some help. I really want to do this myself (not pay someone).

So would a clogged PCV result in loud tapping from the engine (it sounds really bad). If so, where do I begin?

Thanks for all the help!
