overdrive problem 900

I have an overdrive problem with our 1993 940 non turbo SW and can't find an answer on the FAQ. 95% of the time the overdrive doesn't work and then out of nowhere it will. It continues to work until the car is shut off and then nothing. The relay is working(clicks when the overdrive button is pushed)and I flushed the transmission. The solenoid was replaced about 30K miles ago. Where do I start to troubleshoot? The electrical connection looks good at the solenoid,no cracks. I don't want to take the overdrive solenoid off and replace with the IPD conversion. I have an obsession with things working the way they are suppossed to. Thanks Matt
