random quirks 200 1990

My 1990 240 has quite the personality, but it is time she became a tad more predictable.

1) sometimes the turn signal will go apeshit fast when signaling left, and conversly slow when signaling right. after a few trips it seems to even out again back to normal.

2) on the highway fourth gear (overdrive) just doesnt want to engage. It has once or twice since I've owned the car. I have owned it since june. Automatic trans.

3) brake lines seem to have a leak, but im not quite sure from where, there usually isn't a huge puddle under the car and if there is its hard to tell if it isnt from the power steering rack which I am also sure is leaking.

4) my last question just revolves around what steering rack would be in my car, I assume its a ZF rack based on what the haynes manual says and the fact that the boot looks like it has a larger opening to allow for the inner tie rod than the pictures of cam rack boots. Is there an easier more logical way of figuring this out, am i right/wrong?

I'm fairly new to DIY car maintanence so please bare with any seemingly stupid questions. Thank you from Denver, CO.
