Brake System Flush Question 140-160

The 1970 144s I just bought now starts and runs nicely after sitting 19 years.........?the brake hydraulics are another story...no fluid at all in the m/c. haven't even gotten the piston out of it yet.

So I wonder what mischief lays wait in the brake lines, etc.

Assuming something between sludge and complete blockage from ruat, what could I use to do some cleaning?

The factory manual suggests denatured alcohol (without benzene) what the Europeans call "methylated spirit". Is this what our local hardware variety od Denatured Alcohol is? Label says it's for cleaning rubber, not eating it, which is the concern with the wrong type of chemical.

Also, those of you who have switched from Dot 3/4 to Silicone 5 fluid, is flushing with DA where you began the process? What are some good silicone fluids?
