Contrary to the "brace your brick" instructions, the tower to firewall on mine is more like 18" I added the cross brace on a whim as well as the lower braces (not pictured).

I did all that with as single $1.65 10ft length of 1/2" EMT
1/2" is *plenty* stiff.

I did add the small holes at 4" to avoid punching them into the passenger compartment in an accident.

Unsure what difference has been made. My brick desperately needs new front struts which probably masks any improvement.
