Yep it could 200

Yes your throttle body can get dirty in just a years time. Had the morning back out of the driveway stall myself for about a month and finally got around to cleaning Inga's this weekend. Even after two years of full Synthetic oil and cleaning the Throttle Body about this time last year, it need cleaning. There was far less varnish and the coating of gunk that with the Dino oil. In fact might have been able to just wipe throttle body down instead of spraying it with the cleaner. Pulled it off, sprayed, wiped it down, installed new gaskets, cleaned the big intake hose, and flametrap. The morning drop in reverse stall is gone the acceleration and idle are seemly improved.

Cleaning the AMM, there is a spray made just for AMM by CRC and it is safe to use. Read up on it here on the BB and started cleaning Inga's three years ago. As part of routine maintenance evert year since also cleaned it with the spray (still have the first can). The only time for sure it did something that could be seen was the first use. There was a very visible metallic looking dark grayish film that came off during the cleaning. Not sure if that was from the little wire and the inside of the AMM or from the protective screens. Stood it up on a paper towel when cleaning to prevent the solvent overspray for getting on other things. You could see the results on the towel, however still not 100% sure if the cleaning actually did much when it came to engine performance. The inside of the AMM does look cleaner when you get finished and that may just extend it's life.

IMOH the best protection for the AMM is to go into the breather box and rip the thermostat out and plug up the heater hose hole. The greatest danger to a AMM is the flapper being stuck open and hot air causing a failure based on BB Testimonials.

Good Luck,

Paul
