Ball & Socket worn out on throttle linkage, how to keep it put? 140-160 1969

Hello,

I think I can see both holes in your picture, but it would be easier to see if you cleaned the part.

The ball socket in your picture, although made of 1 piece, has 2 sections, the cylindrical lower section with threads inside and the spherical end for the ball on the linkage.

If you look closely, you will see a small hole in the top of the spherical end and a hole on the underside of the sphere.

A small wire clip is supposed to go through both holes after the ball has been inserted to retain the ball in the ball socket.
