Transmission Mount Troubles 200 1983

Last week the transmission mount on my 83 245 with m46 broke and I ordered a replacement. After replacing, the transmission seemed to hit the floorpan even harder than before while cranking and the U joint on the tailshaft of the transmission hits the floorpan if I hit a large bump in the road. After inspecting it seems like my transmission went from to low with the old mount to too high with the new one. I was wandering if I could put some washers on the bolts to the crossmember to create some space or does anyone have any suggestions? Any help is much appreciated.
