Dont the cam lobes and followers get lubricated by the oil that is sprayed out past the camshaft bearing journals? The no 3 exhaust lobe on my 122S's cam wore away resulting in a missfire that got progressively worse and when I stripped everything out I found that the centre cam bush was also "crumbling" because it appeared that the oil hole in the bush was not lined up properly and the flow of oil to that bush was choked.
