Thanks, this is slowly starting to make sense. Now that you mention it the gas DID seem to be coming from around one of the plastic retainer clips, but I couldn't think of a reason why that would be.

I assume you took the entire line out of the car to do the repair? Did you replace other rusty-looking sections while you were at it (e.g., under some of the other clips)?
