Need interior door panel removal help 200

I need to remove the driver's side interior door panels on both my 90 244 and 92 245.

I tried to remove one of them the other day and couldn't get it all the way off due to the spot where it is attached at the upper door handle. I had removed all the hole plugs, undid all the screws in the armrest but the upper part of the handle couldn't be removed!

I did a quick search on here to try to find any previous posts to remedy my problem, but nothing. Also nothing in either Bentley or Haynes manual.
