Hi, does anyone know the different front spring specification for 940/960(up to 94') ?
I recently changed my front shock absorbers, putting Sachs gas shocks on my 1994 960 2.9 saloon. It improved the handling dramatically ...
Then the car front was sitting very high (may be one inch higher than before), probably due to shock internal pressure, that there wasn't on original oil shocks.
The looking was awfull, especially when the rear was sagging due to nivomats...
So I bought a pair of genuine Volvo lowering springs, they call "road holding",
supposed to lower the front of about 1 inch, but when I put them on, it went rather 2 inches down ! (damn...)
At the same time, the car handling is just great, essentially due to the gas shocks, compared to what it was before with stock Volvo oil shocks.
Also I am pretty confident that these springs are designed for the car, as being a genuine volvo kit (spring ref : 9140533)
But is there a way that I could just put slightly different springs than the original I had (supposedly 6819662, for chassis code marked A1),
just to get it lowered by just an inch (I know it sounds a bit of perfectionism,
but, but that's the way I take it ... :=)
I know there is also different chassis codes marked A8 or A9 for 960, and another spring reference (6819661), but I do not know if it would fit ...
So :
Does anyone have any idea or any information on spring rates, thickness, length of the different springs references for 960/940?
Ideally, having the specs of the different 900 spring references would be great, but it seems just to be unavailable.
Also some information on the different 960/940 model front weights or chassis code marking would be appreciated.
My original springs are :
uncompressed height : 475 mm
thickness : 13.6 mm
diameter : 166 mm (end to end).
