Pumping sound 900 1994

The wife's '94 940 turbo has had a sound (for quite a spell now) that sounds like a low pumping sound when idling, fairly rapid in cadence ...right in line with engine speed. It runs great @ 270K, and the sound goes away once you take off.

Just installed a new compressor, but no belt yet on that ...still have to add freon ...so that eliminates that.

I keep wondering if it might be crankcase ventilation connected ...but I was able to blow easily through the breather box.

What might I be looking for?

Thank you very much for any ideas.
