Clutch pedal stiffer in '82 242DL than '88245DL 200

All,

The clutch pedal in my 82 242 (m46) feels stiffer than the one in my '88(m47). Are these two different systems? I did some research on the board and someone said this was normal, but why?

Or should I loosen the cable on the 242?
