Third Seat Buckles 700 1990

The buckles that attach near the tires of my third seat had been mangled beyond recognization when I got it. I ordered a replacement and replaced it like the remains of the original but it does not look right to me. The push button seems to be opposite as one would think it would be. This is how it looks:



Do I need to flip it or is that the way it is supposed to look?
