Dear p700walk,

May this find you well. If the installer will give you a year guarantee, I don't see why an adhesive shouldn't work as well as a filler strip. If the adhesive fails, it can be removed, and a filler strip used.

Adhesives are used to assemble airplane fuselages. This auto use is not high stress, except when the window is going down. There's some drag on it from the sealing strips. Once the adhesive cures, though, it should be very strong.
