If I remember right, the old SUs had the little weep hole, and the newer ones had an overflow tube that you could attach a hose to and direct the leakage away to a safer place.

If the fuel is coming out the little hole, the float valves are not doing their job. Since they are prone to not doing their job from time to time, find out if the newer float covers will fit the old floats.
