New alternator, new battery, 14.2 volts at battery at idle, battery still discharges and goes dead 200

Hi all,

I've had this '90 240 wagon for 4-5 years. Lately, the battery would progressively discharge and die. The battery tested at 12.7 volts at idle, and since I hadn't touched the charging system since I bought it, I put in a new alternator and battery. Now, when idling, I've got 14.2 volts at the battery, well within the spec called for in Bentley. But after a few days of driving, the battery is dead.

What am I missing?

Monty
