Coolant Flush Question 200 1989

Hello all,
I'm in the process of doing a coolant flush(the first I've ever done), and something came up that concerns me. I pulled the bottom radiator hose off to drain, reattached, and refilled with prestone 10 min radiator flush. It only took about 3/4 gallon of water on top of the flush solution to fill the overflow tank back up, and the car goes over the operating temp quickly if I run the car at all. I have the heater on all the way with the fan on and the it's only blowing cool air. I stopped the car after a minute of running when i first started to to check if more water was need, but the level stayed the same?

Does this seem normal? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for you help!
