240 Muffler replacement 200

Hi, I was in the process of installing a new muffler (the front primary one). The connection toward the from of the engine was easy enough to remove as it was almost rusted through, however the connection at the rear of the muffler is siezed/fused to the connecting pipe. I have tried heating it with a plumbers torch then hammering, twisting and pulling without any success. The rear pipe and muffler are in reasonably good shape and I don't want to replace the whole assembly. I would appreciate any suggestions on how best to unstick the thing.
Thanks
