240 auto won't shift from 2nd. to 3rd gear. desperate.

My stepsons 240 automatic is on it's last leg. I just did some patch work to buy him some time recently. It had broken motor mounts, bad tie rods, vacuum leaks etc. Well, now it won't shift from 2nd. to 3rd. gear. At all. before when the MM were broken, it would stay in 2nd too long, then when you would lift the throttle it would shift. After replacing the MM it shifted normal. For a while. Now, it won't shift at all from 2-3.

He is broke, getting a divorce that he doesn't deserve. and has a crappy paying job and child support to pay to his two timing little b---h ex. So, goes his luck. Anyway, he beats cars. He will drive them till the stop, so some of this is neglect. But, I guess this one isn't his fault. I gave him the car last year.

Back to the car. The rear tailshaft bushing is shot. I replaced it and seal twice when I had the car. It has slop in tailshaft again. I am sure that is not causing it to not shift though. Is this trans done, or is there hope? Thank you.
