Braided Transmission Coolant Lines Yes? No? and Questions 200 1984

Ok, so I hate to repost stuff and ask questions that may have already been answered, but I PROMISE; I searched the forums and couldn't find anything.

I recently had my transmission rebuilt on my 84 244 with 300,000 miles on it. It really shifts and runs great - good money to spend (though one day I look forward to owning a manual). So, the week after I got it back, one of the transmission coolant lines blew a hole in it from the pressure of the rebuilt tranny. Smoking and what not, we took it and had them welded up. Well, needless to say, it's happened a couple times now and I need new lines.

I know that I could get someone to bend me new lines or I could cut off my arm and get some from volvo, but I remember hearing something about braided lines as a replacement. Junkyard is not an option because those are all corroded too, and there aren't any "used" lines newer that 16 years old. I also don't want to do the "cut it in half and splice" trick either. I don't want to keep fooling with this.

I was wondering if anyone had done this and what they had to suggest. I'm in high school and it'd be nice to save as much money as possible, but I'd really like to go with braided. Wondering if someone could suggest a brand for line and fittings. I have heard aeroquip for the lines and Earl's for fittings, does it matter? What brands should I steer clear of? Also wondering if anyone had a suggested ID for the hose, and to save some trouble, does anyone have the transmission coolant nipple thread size on the top of their head? TIA.
