Clutch engaged engine speed related noise 200 1987

my 87 240 just developed a noise at lower speeds (at least thats when I can hear it) 1-40ish mph. It only occurs when the clutch is engaged, but is determined by the rpm of the engine. It may be there at higher speeds just at a pitch that I can't hear or covered up by other noise, i can't really tell. The noise kind of reminds me of the whine that the car makes while being driven in reverse, but it is not the same noise. It was not there when I left for a 900 mile trip, I first heard it on a pee break around 100 miles. It has not seemed to increase in volume or intensity but is still there. Right before I left, I changed the motor mounts, but I doubt it is related. I think I am nearing the end of the life if my clutch, but it isn't slipping yet. Hopefully it is something I can take care of when I change it.

Thanks for the help,
Mark
