I like your approach. This way you get the benefit of the system rebuild. I once had a car I repaired just so I could sell it without too much hassle of a potential buyer discovering the problems and haggling over them.

Later, I thought, "Gee, I had t spen the money anyway, but I didn't get to enjoy the benefits of fixing those things!"

Now I no longer "replace a part", but repair a system complete.
