Hi Dan,

The input at the equalizer jack is before the volume control, so yes you have control in both places. I also thought I'd find the plug in my junk collection, but none were 8-pin; had to order it. But we love our stock radios, so I've made a few of these already. And the first wasn't so clean cut because I insisted on charging the ipod.
