Transplant of an 84 244 Turbo drivetrain into my 89 245 non-Turbo? 200

Just enjoying my 89 245 wagon, albeit extremely underpowered as it is....when a local Craigs ad has an 84 244 GLT Turbo 5 speed (112K miles) available for fairly low $$$.

The question....can these Turbo drivetrains be retrofitted (without agony) into NA vehicles? Later vehicles? From my previous SAAB experience, it was pretty much a NO-go to try and graft a Turbo into a NA vehicle....way too much control & wiring differences. However, I don't know how the Volvo Turbo system works. Is the boost control manual or electronic? What other engine controls would be different, or is it nearly plug and play?

I know typically one trys to stay in the same year range for engine electrical compatibility, but I'd really like to have some TURBO power in my wagon.

Dreaming? Somebody who has BTDT give me a reality check.

thanks,

Duane
