Brake Lights out on '89 240 200 1989

sounds like a break in the wire, or a bad connection of the wire at the plug connector at the sensor.

What happens if you jump from the B/R side of the switch to Post #9 and step on the brake? If the brakes lights come on, you could just attach a spade connector at the switch end and leave the jumper in place permanently.

You can do one further test of the switch - leave the G/R wire in place, take off the B/R wire, then probe the lug on the switch where the B/R connects with a test light and step on the brakes. If the tester lights up, the switch is good and that pretty much confirms a wire or connector problem.
