heated, power side mirrors 200

Hi

I just bought a set of heated power side mirrors from ebay for my 240 and found out that the dirver side mirror heater is busted. I tried connecting the passenger (working side) side wiring to the driver side and it still does not work, I think the element is fried. How does one get to replace the heat element of a side mirror?

Also, in the course of installing the remote switch under the handbrake housing, the brake indicator light in the dash disappeared. I tried to check the wirings to see if I pulled something, all my efforts proved to be futile. Can anyone help me out on this?
