M46 - Speedo Retaining Bolt Threads Stripped 200

The threads for the hole where the speedo retaining bolt goes are stripped - someone installed the incorrect bolt at some point :( I have no away to hold in my speedo gear.

Should I drill and tap or use a helicoil? I'm not familiar with aluminum so I don't know which works better. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? I know the hole is supposed to be M6 x 20MM, but I can't find any helicoils that long without going up to M10, which means the retaining clip won't fit (I don't think I could even drill it that big either).

Thanks in advance for your advice...

-Phil
