How stupid am I?
You determine the answer.
Had to put a new crank in the engine so I pulled the whole drive train seeing as the tranny was acting up as well. Dropped in a new crank, torqued everything up (I thought) & plopped the engine back in.
Got a pnp tranny locally & put it in.
Starts up & runs fine, smooth shifts, all seems right with the world.
Until...
It starts a rythmic clicking noise from the rear of the engine.
Long story short, a screw has come loose from the rear main seal holder.
Can't get in to it without dropping the tranny which I do.
Retorque all the holder bolts, more are loose as well.
Put everything back together & the engine won't start.
Acts like spark is off.
I PUT THE TRANNY DRIVE PLATE BACK ON OUT OF POSITION!
The closed-off holes are at BDC while the engine is at TDC.
Should be at the starter position, correct?
Stupid, stupid, stupid...gotta drop the whole tranny out again.
Not looking for sympathy, just hoping someone else did this once as well so I don't feel all alone.
Which engineer decided to NOT go with offset holes on the drive (flex, tone) plate?
