New O2 Sensor Price, sort of surprised by who had the lowest price..... 200 1986

After 23 years decided to change Inga's O2 Sensor. Her gas mileage has dropped about 1 MPG over the last six months and there have been several posts about an o2 sensor causing that. The very light AC load of the last few weeks did not really result in the MPG increase of past years. Inga does a 72 mile commute across Houston and back every day, about 70% of her miles are at highway speeds. Inga is my faithful 1986 245DL automatic with 265K miles. She has been running like a top, in fact after changing the fuel filter and adjusting her accelerator cable and throttle linkage, she has never been as peppy as right now. But 22 MPG is off her regular performance per gallon and want to see if that can be improved.

Shopped all the normal online sources, checked eBay, called the local Eurohouse, and everyone had about the same price for the Bosch 13957 in the $100 range. Checked a couple of the chain stores that I new handled Bosch and found a much lower price. AutoZone has the same 13957 sensor for $68 and the closest AutoZone to my house had two in stock. This is one of the extended hour stores with a very large inventory. I was just surprised to find the same sensor $30 lower than anyplace else.

Not really noticed any big difference so far on how Inga is running after installing the sensor, maybe she is running a wee bit smoother. Filled her up right after the filter went in and will see if that helps the mileage any. She has her pipe sniff due next month, it will be interesting to see how the numbers compare vs last years stellar numbers also. The old sensor was coated with this white dusting coating when it was removed.

Regards,

Paul
