Fuel Injection system not working 200

I posted earlier about my heater fan troubles. At this point, I've got a new speedometer (I fried the old one) by mixing up the tach wire with the 'right wire'. Am I correct in thinking the 'correct' wire is the blue one... before I put in the new speedo and fry it too? ;-)

So now Ive got dash lights on the old instrument panel, and I've got plenty of spark - it wont run even if I force the fuel pumps to run.

I'm pretty convinced the whole fuel injection system isn't running. For fun, I've swapped out the fuel pump relay, it made not difference. Could I have fried the 'brain' by mixing up the wires behind the instrument panel? I can't think of anything else at this point.

Does anyone know offhand if the brain from an 88 will go into an 86? I suppose I've got about 16 hours into this damned heater motor project at this point, it's quite frustrating.
