240 Stalls and wont start again. 200 1987

Hello,
I have an 87 240 and I have been having this problem for about 2 months now. I had the car stall on me when i was driving one day and wouldnt start back up. This was about 2 months ago and ended up replacing the main fuel pump and fuel pump relay and managed to get it working. Then I had it happen to me about a month ago but go the car to start right back up an drove away fine. This just happened to me about 20 mins ago and was unable to get the car started and its now sitting on the side of a busy road. I am planning to go back and try to start it again. But it also has alot of hesitation when I go to accelerate. Not all the time but most of the time. Today it seemed fine and then completly cut out on me. It also starts really rough and idles terrible until it warms up. In fact it wont even run if I try to start it and take off to quickly. I am really lost as to what to do. My uncle who has some knowledge of the car since it was his before says it may be the air mass meter. I honestly dont know and its not a cheap part and I am already out the fuel pump and relay. Please anything helps I just want to get this car running.

Thanks for the advice
Tim
