what's the best altinater to put on my 91 745T? 700

My altinater has been acting up for a while. Sometimes the output measures well over 14V, sometmes nothing (Batery votage). The brush/regulater set is new. I was stranded on the road two times so far for this. I want to put a new one in, one that is very reliable. Keep in mind that this is our family vacation wagon, going east and west every year with me, my wife and 4 kids plus a double sized motorcycle trailer. Any good esperiences with any brand named ones or should I just go to the dealership. Thanks. Erwin
