type of fuel for 1800? 1800 1964

What type of gas are people using in their 1800's? I'm getting mixed messages these days, and am confused on what type is best. Leaded or unleaded? Also, depending on which of these types, then is regular grade or premium better. It's not driven much, but I would like to start using it more. I'm getting hesitation when accelerating, tried using a can of 'octane booster' in with the last tank of gas, but not much improvement.
Mine is a '64 w/ approx. 150K miles, rebuilt engine w/ larger cam and headers were added years ago by previous owner. (SU carbs)
Thanks in advance for help with this.
