tranny shifting rough 700

i would like to ask someone about my tranny in my 745. this 745 volvo has been sitting for 3 1/2 years. it is shifting alittle slow. a transmission man told me to put 12 oz. of lucas transmission fix into my tranny and run it for 300 to 500 mile to see if that would free up a stricking valve in the transmission. i dont like to put additives into any volvo. however, i need to know if this will help my tranny or not. after i get the tranny working good - i am goig to install mobile 1 tranny fluid-3309fluid? if anybody has anidea please let me know, thanks,kim
