Hi John, how are you?

I had a similar problem with my tach. I think it came down to to resistance in the connections at the back of the instrument cluster. It has been about 8 years but remember, pulling the cluster, cleaning the contact points and tightening the plugs, especially at the area where the circuit board plugs directly in. I also cleaned the guages with some eletronics cleaner at the time too.
