steering box out 120-130 1966

After replacing upper and lower ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rods and center arm ends, I still had "skips" in the steering. A few brief skips and bumps. I have the box out now, and apart. The gears on the pitman arm have a couple big pits, one the size of a pencil eraser, the other, half that big. And the ball bearings on the steering rod in the box are not smooth either. They want to hang from time to time. Bushings on the pitman arm seem fine, and the steering rod gears look fine. I am thinking this is toast, and I should get a used box from somebody. Anybody got one? or a suggestion?
