Thanks for the reply, Art. Turns out the insulation was stripped from the wire leading to the solenoid, so that turned out to be an affordable and easy fix.
The Cat is the next venture. How would you go about checking to see if the cat is clogged? Any way around replacing it if that is the problem?
I am going to check for codes in just a few minutes.
I brought the car to a Volvo mechanic in town, and he suggested replacing the intank pump (which he did at cost, as he if a friend of my fathers. $60 total) and the AMM. He temporarily unplugged the AMM so that it would run better, but this only worked for a day or so and ended up costing me in gas mileage. So I bought and installed the new one myself and it ran a little bit better, but it definitely didn't solve the problem. Just did plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change and air filter this morning. Topped off the tank with 93 and some injector cleaner. Still no major improvement.
It just seems sluggish. If I am cruising along on a flat road it will be fine (once up to speed), but as soon as I head up a hill, the car will not accelerate any more. It will bog down if I give it more throttle.
So, with the help of all of you guys, I have narrowed it down to either the cat (which makes the most sense) or maybe the injectors? Thanks for your wisdom.
