engine out, questions arise... 120-130

Hard to say about the oil puff. You don't say how rebuilt the rebuild is. Just tearing it down and putting it back together is not rebuilt . Old Rings and old Valve seats..stuff like that will cause this is they weren't checked and replaced during the rebuild.
Yes, those bolt on the Flywheel... even though the head is not too meaty, they want to be tight. Too bad you had to pull the motor to find this issue.
