IPD sway bar saddle bracket clunking? 700 1986

Hey all,

I've got some clunking sounds in my 740's front end after replacing pretty much all bushings and suspension components (struts/strut mounts, ball joints, tie rod ends). The clunking is getting louder, like something is wearing out from the newly increased rigidity of the front end.

Repeated inspection shows no slack in the struts, ball joints, tie rods, chassis braces, or anything else.

I'm wondering if deterioration of anti-sway bar's saddle bushings is common, and what the lifespan of these poly bushings might be. The end link bushings are new, but the saddle bushings are of indeterminate age.

I know my anti-sway bars have been in for over 100,000 miles, but I don't know if the previous owner replaced the bushings at any point. While the saddle bushings are in place within their brackets, they don't seem to be tight around the bars. How snug should they be, and would their inner surfaces wear to the point of creating clunking noises?

Any input would be helpful!
