Cold rattle in engine Valve spring broken? 200 1982

I recently bought an old 244 with about 150K on it. Everything is nice except for a rather pronounced engine rattle that is worse when cold and gets almost faint when hot.

I checked valve adjustment and everything is fine. The inside of the engine is clean as a whistle and I suspect a possible broken valve spring. Does this one have two springs per valve? Would there be an easy way to locate witch spring is bad? Stethoscope, compression (cold or hot) something other than removing all the springs with the head on the car?

Anybody got any ideas?

Need help in Colorado.
