Idle speed trouble 900

I would like to know what other members think might be causing the problem I am experiencing with my '91 940 turbo. The car starts and runs fine...until I arrive at my destination and put it in Park. Instead of the idle speed in park being 750rpm (it's usual),the idle speed goes to 1000-1100 and stays there. If I lightly tap the accelerator pedal, that will not reduce the idle speed. If I shut engine off and immediately re-start it, the idle speed is at it's normal 750 rpm in park. I appreciate any/all help. Thanks, Dave
