The 700/900's had better looking interiors, with more features intended to support the overly-high price.

But on some fronts, the quality of the bits underneath was ever so slightly cheapened. The brakes went to cheaper single piston sliding calipers, from the 240's fixed multi piston caliper. The rear suspension went from a stout 4-bar to a somewhat more fragile torque beam style.

It's *mostly* the same stuff in a more modern and more appealing package, but IMO the quality dropped just a tiny bit.

Which was probably on purpose, the 240 was expensive to build, and as a result was considerably overpriced for the features, so it didn't sell *that* well, and it lasted too long. It took a pretty hard headed customer to buy one, and when they did, they wouldn't come back for a long, long time for another one.
