245 rear window 200 1988

Greetings fellow Brickheads, due to the actions of an angry young drunk punk, I need to replace the rear window of my '88 245. It seems the rear window is NLA new from anywhere, so I got a used tailgate. The used tailgate is in bad condition so I need to swap glass. The question is, do I need to remove the rear window trim moulding from the gasket before attempting to remove the glass from the donor hatch??
