940 NA Locker diff ratio 700 1989

"I'm not up on my math- Does that mean if I swapped to the 940 rear, that I would have more or less torque? Would my speedo and abs still work?" Torque-that would depend on what the ratio is now in your 740 Turbo. If the new number is lower than what you have you will get less torque advantage--lower rpm at any given road speed. If the new diff has a number higher (lower ratio) than what you now have the torque advantage will be greater--higher rpm at any road speed. I don't know for sure but I would guess that the speedo should work properly. The speedo takes it's signal from the tone ring on the ring gear--every revolution of the ring gear is equal to the rotation of your tires which rotate maybe something like 750 times per mile--that won't change--only the rpm of the motor will be affected. The same should hold true for the ABS. -- Dave
