Help - Daughter stranded on Sawmill Pkwy, NY 200 1988

My daughter just called crying. Betsy died and she and my daughter are stuck along the highway.
The engine cranks over and everything else seems in working order
State Farm assistance truck stopped by and though the gas guage says the 1/2 full they put 2 gallons in and it still didn't start up. I had my daughter check the fuses and she says they are okay. I replaced the fuel pump relay last year as well as the timing belt and tensioner and readjusted the tensioner.
Per my daughter, their is no resistance or pressure on the gas pedal. It easily goes right down to the floor. Any ideas? AAA is going to tow it to the nearest garage. 1988 245 "Betsy" 150,000
